ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • As part of the estimating team, the Estimator is responsible for preparing budgets, estimates, and bid packages for projects delivered under Construction Management (CM), General Contracting (GC), or Subtrade models. The Estimator will review construction documents, develop accurate quantity take-offs and pricing, and support planning and procurement through to contract award.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

  • Review and interpret drawings, specifications, schedules, and other project documentation to determine scope, constraints, and project requirements.
  • Complete detailed quantity take-offs for concrete formwork, concrete, General Requirements, and other assigned trade scopes.
  • Prepare preliminary budgets, detailed estimates, and pricing breakdowns aligned with company standards and project deliverables.
  • Research, source, solicit, and evaluate pricing from suppliers and subcontractors; negotiate pricing and lead times where required to secure best value.
  • Assemble, issue, and manage bid packages, including scope sheets, clarifications, addenda tracking, and tender close procedures. Identify estimating risks, assumptions, exclusions, and opportunities; develop contingencies and mitigation strategies that reflect project complexity and market conditions.
  • Work closely with project teams, trade partners, and consultants to resolve scope gaps, coordinate interfaces, and evaluate relative risks or potential delays.
  • Support the development of preliminary construction schedules and sequencing plans as required for pricing, logistics, and proposal preparation.
  • Track & maintain estimating records, including estimated vs. actual costs, subcontractor and supplier pricing history, & lessons learned to improve future accuracy.
  • Stay current with estimating software, tools, and industry best practices; recommend improvements to workflows and templates.
  • Conduct site visits and participate in pre-bid meetings, walk-throughs, and stakeholder sessions as required.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, design teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and user groups, reflecting company core values and meeting or exceeding customer expectations.

EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Pride in yourself and what you do.
  • Minimum 5 years experience as an Estimator preparing budgets, estimates, ad bid packages for medium to large-scale CM, GC, and or Subtrade models.
  • Proficient level software and technical skills,
  • Proficient with PROCORE
  • Strong sense of responsibility, discipline, and company loyalty.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple estimates at a given time under tight deadlines,
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and time management skills
  • Ability to lead a team and provide mentorship.

SALARY RANGE

CA$100,000.00 - CA$140,000.00 per year
