ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Superintendent provides on-site leadership and coordination for all phases of construction. This includes managing subcontractors, materials, and equipment, while ensuring that all work strictly follows project specifications, schedules, and budgets. The Superintendent is directly responsible for site scheduling, inspections, quality control, and jobsite safety.

The Superintendent is responsible and accountable for site safety and jointly accountable with the Project Manager for delivering the project on time and on budget. This role ensures construction is executed in full compliance with plans, specifications, and local building codes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

  • Schedule subcontractors, consultants, and vendors to maintain progress along the critical path and achieve timely project completion.
  • Implement and monitor project logistics and execution plans.
  • Perform quality control on all work performed and ensure compliance with contract documents.
  • Review timesheets, track labour, material, and equipment costs accurately.
  • Coordinate lifting/hoisting activities, including street closures and permits.
  • Schedule and oversee required inspections with authorities and consultants.
  • Maintain site safety compliance with WorkSafeBC and the Company Safety Manual, completing hazard assessments, orientations, and safety meetings as required.
  • Identify and resolve construction conflicts, notifying the project team of any deviations from approved plans.
  • Maintain a detailed daily log of jobsite activities.
  • Manage multiple job sites when necessary.
  • Conduct daily site walks to monitor work progress and assist with short-term planning.
  • Chair weekly subcontractor coordination meetings.
  • Issue notices of non-compliance where necessary to enforce quality or scheduling standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite at all times.
  • Prepare two-week lookahead schedules and conduct progress reviews.
  • Lead daily toolbox meetings with employees and subcontractors to review planned activities, hazards, and safety concerns.

EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Pride in yourself and what you do.
  • Minimum 5 years experience as a Superintendent managing small and large-scale projects, including commercial concrete,
  • Beginner level software and technical skills,
  • Proficient with PROCORE
  • Strong sense of responsibility, discipline, and company loyalty.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects flexibly and efficiently,
  • Strong problem-solving and time management skills
  • Ability to lead a team and provide mentorship.

SALARY RANGE

CA $100,000 - $120,000 per year
